what y’all thinking about fellas

So garlic is a natural anticoagulant, but then why would vampires be allergic to it?

Hear me out:

What if vampires made up all the stuff about them being allergic to garlic so that their victims would eat it, thinking it would ward off vamps, but instead it makes their blood easier to drink!

Because it doesn’t clot!

This has really been getting to me recently. Have I uncovered their master conspiracy or am I going insane?

Most all famous “vampire repellents” from centuries old lore have been found in our modern times to have anti-bacterial properties. Which makes sense when you’re a villager desperately preventing your little sister from succumbing to an “evil spirit” (an infection) by rubbing garlic on her wounds, and finding in the morning that she feels better. Even the mirror thing makes sense when you remember that old mirrors were backed with silver, another anti-bacterial material often considered werewolf repellent. Modern mirrors don’t have backing of this material anymore, so contemporary vampires don’t have this issues with mirrors any longer, but a silver bullet is still a bullet, so. Make of that what you will.
